The Birth of Ideas

Have you ever wondered where ideas come from? I love being in a bubbly state when light goes off in my mind and immediately I need to jot down an idea for a future blog entry, story or a timid germ of a long term project. This is the birthing stage. But nothing happens if you leave it at that: you have to move on to the next phase.

And the next phase is picking up on that idea, materializing it, putting some flesh on the bones. And once it is properly born you have to let it live. Letting it live means no words of harm or cruelty towards your creature. This doesn’t mean you won’t be getting negative feedback from others. That’s OK. Your creature needs to live so don’t kill it.

And letting live means letting grow. Growth entails time, effort, focus. It is soooo easy to get thrown off track. But you have to give it the daily blood, sweat and tears. Giving up only leads to frustration – eventually, even though it may mean relief in the short term.

The finally stage is bloom, flourish and shine.
